By Nancy Toby on Thursday, November 12th, 2009 in Nancy Toby: Run Big!

This was something like my 100th race since I got back off the couch in 2000. Not exactly, I’ve lost count, but that’s close enough.I had a fabulous weekend spending time with friends in Wilmington, NC, and sharing time with them and marveling at their…

PFT results and a V-Flow Max?

By Darin Letzring on Sunday, November 1st, 2009 in 20-60-40 Triathlon

This past week became a bit of a recovery with a test week. I got in only three trainer rides and no training runs. I was quite tired all week…maybe it’s something in the house because both Tera and Paul are a bit sick, and they’re both really tired and sleeping alot. On Saturday, I did my Physical Fitness Test (PFT) for the Marine Corps. It turned out to be a nice day. With a 1000 start, it

Here’s a quick rundown:9 of 30 in age group49 of 168 in men’s olympic2hrs 33minutes overall versus goal of 2:27 (90% of the difference is from the bike, and I missed my goal of 23 minutes on the swim by 34 seconds).Pre-race: went as expected. Bismarck race results and training changes

By Michael Clark on Monday, June 22nd, 2009 in 20-60-40 Triathlon

Race results from Bismarck are posted. I finished 11 of 17, better than expected actually. Interesting that my bike was relatively good, in the mix with five others who finished the bike in 1:14-1:15 for spot 6-12 on the bike, so I’ll take that as a success. My run came in at 55:06 per the official results, and that is incredibly slow for me. The first 5k was a 21:05, which isn’t bad considering

Race Report: Bismarck Triathlon

By Michael Clark on Wednesday, June 17th, 2009 in 20-60-40 Triathlon

I had high hopes for this race. All of them were crushed quickly. I learned alot though! The race became a duathlon because of cold water from the snow that fell a week earlier. Water temps were high 50s or so. I would have preferred to swim because I am a relatively good swimmer. I’m a below-average biker, and an average runner. And the one time I’ve run before I biked, my bike sucked because my

Wildflower Triathlon race report

By Scott on Monday, May 18th, 2009 in Scott Curry's Triathlon Site

Leading my preparation for Ironman Coeur D’Alene, I opted to race the Wildflower triathlon as a springboard for developing early season fitness.  I think my strategy worked well - seeing that this race clearly was a prime motivator of getting me out the door to train during our unusually long and snowy winter.  With a […]

Treadmill Bike

By Scott on Monday, April 20th, 2009 in Scott Curry's Triathlon Site

My brother Brent, owner of The Bicycle Forest invented the treadmill bike as a tongue in cheek social commentary on how it’s ironic that people spend time in their cars travelling to exercise gyms to run on stationary treadmills.
He’s been getting more interest in his creation than I think he bargained for.
